Expertise

Jaime L. Tomlinson joined Delaware Geological Survey in 2005.

Currently Ms. Tomlinson's research is focused on mapping the surficial geology of the Frederica area area at a scale of 1:24,000 under the STATEMAP component of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program. Field work for the project includes obtaining core samples with the DGS drill rig and sampling the shallow subsurface with hand augers.

While with the DGS, Ms. Tomlinson's research has also centered around the surficial geology of southern Delaware and the geology of Sussex and Kent Counties as it relates to the occurrence of groundwater. She has worked on updating the geological framework of the Sussex County aquifers through the study of several project-specific deep exploratory drill holes and through the interpretation of geophysical and descriptive logs.

Her research interests outside her primary areas of investigation include bay-bottom environments of the Delaware Bay as they correlate to habitat formation and the geomorphology of modern and ancient fluvial systems.
